Bombay Backpackers DXB

I recently had an extremely disappointing stay at Bombay Backpackers DXB, located at 1802, Bahar 5, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Dubai. While the establishment boasts a picturesque view, this was the sole redeeming feature in an otherwise dreadful experience. Cleanliness: The kitchen was in a deplorable state. Opening any drawer or cupboard revealed ants and other insects swarming over utensils and food storage areas. This lack of hygiene is unacceptable and poses serious health risks. Additionally, there was no proper drinking water available. When I asked for it, the owner dismissively replied, “You’re in Dubai, there are no water services here.” This was absurd, as I had previously stayed at another hostel that provided good drinking water—not just filtered tap water. Safety and Security: The beds were alarmingly unstable, creaking ominously with the slightest movement. I genuinely feared they might collapse. To make matters worse, there were no security cameras near the room’s cupboards, creating a high risk of theft. During my stay, both my dish and iPhone charger were stolen. When I reported this to the house help, Molly, she dismissively stated, “I can’t help it.” Reaching out to the Airbnb business owner was equally futile; he responded with personal attacks instead of assistance. Unprofessional Conduct: Molly, the house help, behaved inappropriately, making unwelcome advances. When I did not reciprocate, she became noticeably indifferent. Reporting this to the business owner resulted in a shocking lack of professionalism. He retorted, “It’s a free world,” and insinuated that the issue was on my part for not engaging with her advances. Discrimination and Unjust Treatment: Disturbingly, I experienced discriminatory behavior. The business owner increased my charges without justification, seemingly driven by personal ego. Title: Great Stay in Dubai Marina! Review: This hostel is located in the vibrant Dubai Marina area, which is fantastic and affordable. The rooms are clean and tidy, ensuring a comfortable stay. However, accessing the hostel can be a bit tricky. You need to go to Bahar Parking 1 and take the first right side to find the lift for your hostel's specific floor. If the lift door is locked, you'll need to ask security for assistance. Overall, a great place to stay in Dubai Marina!

The view from the hostel especially in the night is amazing. The best thing of the hostel is the manager (sorry forget his name) the person with spectacle. He was so welcoming and calm person. The room and washroom was clean and of course I will be back soon.

AVOID. This is not a backpacker hostel. It's more like someone rented out a flat too big and put lots of bunk beds. Eight people share a bathroom and no one cleans it. AFAIK, they own at least two flats in the same building and operate in the name of Bohemian Backpackers, Bombay Backpackers and DXB Backpackers (different names for the same place). It's super hard to find it. There was no locker or even a cupboard to put stuff in. I had to put my bag under the bed and stuff on my bed. The host (I think her name is Shakira) is very rude. She doesn't reply to normal queries like wifi password, and hostel policies. The other host is Nidal and he's a very racist guy. I'm not stereotyping, I made very good Pakistani friends in this hostel, metro and some at other tourist attractions, but Nidal on multiple occasions made racist remarks towards Indians making bookings in his hostel. Price wise it's ok, just 40 AED per day if your sole purpose is to sleep. This place is more suited for middle-aged men trying to find some work in Dubai. But I would not recommend it to backpackers. I'm pretty sure somehow they've managed to get fake reviews. I would rate it two stars but the racism was a dealbreaker for me.

Avoid this place at all cost, you can pay the same price for something much better in the same area. The bathroom and beds are smelly, the reception is away 90% of the time, I waited hours before being able to check-in. No one washes their dishes and the sink is always full.
