Came back to Dubai to visit family and decided to fish. Multiple other stores which I won't name gave me the most absurd advice. A few examples, use mono line, no leader. Spool your whole reel with fluoro. Use heavy sinking lures 10-15cm long when shore fishing. I caught nothing, not even a bite, for a combined 20 hours of fishing over 7 or 8 different days. I came here and Ashraf basically told me (rightly so) people working at those other stores had never touched a fishing rod in their lives. He spooled my reel with braided line, showed me which knot to use to tie leader to my line, showed me how to use snaps to save time and suggested a few jigs in his store. He picked jigs on the cheaper side for me to buy and sent me on my way. Did I lose both the jigs he gave me? Yes. I bought some similar jigs while in RAK and used them when I got back. Today I caught a barracuda in the Dubai Creek. Thank you FishOn and Ashraf for educating and being patient with me and all the misinformation I received.
