Horizon English School

We had a terrible experience with Horizon School's "inclusion" department, and I do not recommend this school if your child has special needs. This school says they are inclusion-friendly but, in reality, they will try to avoid accepting your child if they can. There is no real interest in special needs children at this school. They are willing to take children with very mild special needs, but they will not include children will more moderate special needs if they can avoid it. The advice Horizon's head of inclusion gave us, two years in a row, has ultimately left my child without a space at a school for September. Before my child entered FS1, they told us he wasn't ready to start school and that I should keep him in nursery for FS1 and try again the next year. In retrospect this was a massive mistake as when it comes to applying to FS2, the spaces at most schools are already full. If this school tells you to do this - do not take their advice. The next year, we applied to Horizon again, and they told us the same thing. Horizon's head of inclusion recommended "school readiness" programs at "special schools" but these schools weren't keen on accepting my son either as he is not disabled. The schools they recommended are for kids who will never live independently as adults. There is also the small matter of the schools she recommended being three times more expensive than Horizon. The fact that my son is doing well in a conventional school with extra support meant nothing to Horizon. Horizon has no interest in educating special needs children, no matter what they say on their website. If they tell you to keep your child at nursery for FS1, I am telling you now, that is a mistake. When you want to get your child into FS2, you will struggle to find a place. I honestly think this is a strategy schools in Dubai use to conveniently avoid having to take any children they think might be difficult. genuine genuine . i was a student at this school since fs2 - year 6 graduated in 2023. the school was great but my classmates were inaproperate and rude and violent .its a good school but i wouldnt say it deserves being the "happiest school in the uae / dubai"

An outstanding school indeed. They focus on developing confidence, independence, and happiness. Mr.Cole, Ms.Nida, and Ms.Jessop were much helpful.

Hi HES How ya doing all? This is Sahibdeep Singh Kalyan here. I studied at Horizon English School since 2016 when I first joined here when I was in Year 3 at that time. I graduated in Year 6 and finished Horizon five years ago during Pandemic Situation. I had good times at this primary school and had good memories over there. I knew my old teachers and my friends at HES. John Paton, Eddie Diver, Lizzie Varley and others that I have knew they used to work at this school. They were my old teachers before but Mr Eddie Diver and Mr Witcomb now working at Arcadia with me I was Primary Inclusion New Horizons student and I would love to come at Horizon one day to meet my old families. I’ll never forget you Horizon. I knew Mr David Baldwin, Mr Martin Cole, Mr Tangney, Mr McCann, Mr Howard, Mrs Ahmad and everyone and I would love to meet them one day and it would be awesome. Hopefully, I will get to meet everyone at Horizon and I heard Horizon is slowly making very futuristic building and I think, they’ll begin the new era in 2027 😂. We could not have chosen a better school for our son. General problems will always be there (and everywhere) but we are very happy overall. Happy son, happy parents!
