Kohantei Japanese Wagyu Restaurant

If you're looking for traditional Japanese cuisine, this is an excellent choice. The food is delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The staff is well-trained and attentive. My only comment is about the price — it's quite high considering the portion sizes, which are rather small for what you pay.

Good service from reservation till the the time you reach restaurant. Attention to details. Food was delicious, very fresh. Sushi was very authentic, and wagyu was next level. Little pricy, but given the area you are in, quality of food plus service, it's expected. Do use their washrooms, it's proper Japanese style fancy toilets;) also, thank you for taking special time to write msg for my wife birthday.

I found this place to be extremely overrated. I was excited to visit after seeing strong reviews on Google, but it fell VERY short. It's located right next to the Opera, but feels like you're in JLT. The food was especially disappointing—the scallops were tasteless, the “mixed seafood and vegetable tempura” (145 AED) came with just one shrimp. The 530 AED Wagyu fillet was bite size bland and cold. I get that rent in this area is high, but it really feels like they’re cutting corners and making customers pay for something that just isn’t worth it. ALSO, there was visible sauce splatter marks on the wall behind me that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks! Très high class.
