The former house of one of Dubai’s most popular poets of classical Arabic poetry, Al Oqaili symbolizes the life of one colorful dignitary. It is amazing how well the house had been restored since the 1300’s, also it is very well curated and maintained. The furniture is traditional antique that would reflect the kind of furniture used during the time of the poet’s life. Likewise, some of his verses are beautifully decorated in various parts of the house. If you have time, this is one amazing museum to visit

Walking here from around the Souks was in itself an experience, bringing us back to old Dubai. Almost felt like I was going back in time. A small humble museum showing the basic humble lifestyle of the poet. Come early in the day, the museum closes at 2pm and the weekend.
