Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara is the UAE's most remote and visually stunning luxury hotel, rising like a mirage from the towering dunes of the Liwa Desert in Abu Dhabi's Empty Quarter. The drive alone is an experience, with the last 30 minutes passing through increasingly dramatic sand dunes that reach heights of over 100 metres, the tallest in the UAE.
The resort's architecture draws inspiration from ancient desert fortresses, with 206 rooms, suites and private villas arranged around a series of courtyards and terraces. The Royal Pavilion villas are among the most exclusive accommodations in the Middle East, with private pools, outdoor dining areas and uninterrupted views of the Rub' al Khali desert that stretches to the horizon in every direction.
Activities are centred on desert exploration: guided dune drives through the Empty Quarter, camel treks to remote dune summits, sandboarding, fat biking across the sand and stargazing sessions that take advantage of the resort's complete absence of light pollution. The Anantara Spa offers desert-inspired treatments using locally sourced ingredients, and the dining options range from the elegant Suhail to the atmospheric rooftop Al Falaj.
