R9 Events Management

Signed a contract with Rahul at R9 to plan a wedding in the UAE for my partner and I a few months before the actual event. Rahul was very earnest before we signed the contract with video calls and coming up with the proposals but subsequently was very difficult to contact. Essentially nothing was worked on until 5 days before the wedding when we arrived to UAE from the UK and the onus was on us to constantly chase Rahul and every member of his events team. Rahul was not in UAE/Dubai during the entire duration of months of us working together and we have never met him face to face. I felt like we were working for Rahul and not the other way around as we recced the wedding venue without him and took the lead with the layout and personally went down to the florist a few days before the wedding to ensure that we could get the right flowers and colours to match the theme. These are just a few examples of what was a very haphazardly organised wedding, causing a lot of unnecessary stress for us even until the morning of. The printing job for all the wedding signs/name cards were all done last minute and very poorly despite us asking Rahul and his team to not leave it until the night before. Ultimately a very poorly organised event, we paid in full and did not want to cause any unhappiness on the day of course as it was our wedding but I would not recommend his team to anybody looking to plan an event in the UAE. As ours was a simple no frills wedding, retrospectively, I am sorry to say that apart from the furniture that Rahul sourced, I think I could have been in touch with the vendors myself, omitting the company as a middleman and have done a better job with much less stress.
